Troops of the Nigerian Army under the Operation Hadin Kai Joint Task Force in the North-East have received three civilians who escaped from the captivity of Boko Haram terrorists in the Gwoza area of Borno State.
Security sources told analyst Zagazola Makama that the escapees — two adult women and a minor — arrived at a military location on March 14, 2026, after fleeing from insurgents who abducted them during a recent attack on Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area.
The victims were identified as Aishatu Dahiru, 67; Aisha Ali, 43; and a minor, Asta Ali.
According to the sources, the victims revealed during preliminary screening that they were initially taken to a terrorist enclave in Gava following their abduction, while other captives were reportedly moved to camps in Chinene and Ghiraza.
The escapees also disclosed that insurgents involved in the Ngoshe attack were mobilised from the various camps to carry out the operation.
They further alleged that two individuals identified as Sule Shuaibu, also known as Dafa, and one Dabbaba were among those who coordinated the attack. The duo were reportedly former members of local hybrid security forces in Ngoshe before allegedly defecting to the insurgent group.
The victims told troops that the terrorists warned abducted residents that anyone attempting to escape toward Pulka would be killed whenever insurgents launched attacks on the town.
Military sources said the escapees have since been screened, documented and provided with necessary assistance, adding that they remain in custody while further administrative procedures are completed.
