Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have recovered ₦4.77 million, bicycles, mobile phones, and other items following an encounter with suspected terrorists along the Maiduguri–Damboa Road in Borno State.
The incident took place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, when troops from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Molai, while on a routine patrol along the Main Supply Route (MSR) Maiduguri–Damboa, spotted suspected terrorists riding two bicycles near Masta Fanameri.
Upon sighting the advancing troops, the suspects fled into the surrounding bush, abandoning their possessions.
Recovered items included two bicycles, six small lamps, two solar power units, six new Tecno mobile phones with chargers (but no SIM cards), bags of garri, and cash totaling ₦4,770,000.
Troops launched a follow-up search and pursuit operation, but no further contact was made with the fleeing terrorists.
The Nigerian Army, through Operation Hadin Kai and in collaboration with other security agencies, continues to intensify efforts under Operation Desert Sanity IV to disrupt terrorist activities, secure critical routes, and maintain pressure on insurgent groups across the North East.
