The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (ICC) generated ₦700 million within only three weeks of reopening.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service held at St. James’ Anglican Church in Asokoro, Abuja, to commemorate the completion of various projects commissioned by President Bola Tinubu, Wike contrasted the current revenue with that of the previous management, which paid just ₦50 million annually to the federal government.

Wike criticized the former operator, stating, “The man who was running the ICC is from Adamawa, and he was paying ₦50 million to the government every year. These are the people who say they want to rescue Nigeria.”

He recalled President Tinubu’s visit to the facility, during which the president described the centre as an “eyesore” unbefitting Nigeria’s image. Subsequently, the centre was shut down for rehabilitation, a process completed within six to seven months.

Wike praised the rapid turnaround, noting, “But in just three weeks since reopening, we have realized over ₦700 million.”

The thanksgiving service also marked the conclusion of President Tinubu’s 19-day commissioning tour of key projects overseen by Wike’s administration in the FCT, coinciding with the president’s second year in office.
