The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in collaboration with TotalEnergies, has officially unveiled a newly redesigned trophy for the CAF Champions League, signaling a new chapter for African club football.

The unveiling ceremony took place at TotalEnergies’ South African headquarters in Johannesburg, attended by African football legends including Lucas Radebe, Teko Modise, and Siphiwe Tshabalala, alongside key CAF officials and football stakeholders.

One of this season’s finalists—Mamelodi Sundowns or Pyramids FC—will become the first team to lift the new trophy, marking a milestone moment in the history of African football.

“In line with the vision of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, we are rebranding and repositioning African football with a special focus on interclub competitions,” said CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba. “This TotalEnergies CAF Champions League trophy reveal reflects our goals and bold steps toward an exciting African club football environment.”

Inspired by Africa’s rich cultural heritage and the fierce spirit of competition, the new trophy features sleek silver and gold elements that symbolize unity, rivalry, and excellence. At its summit sits a golden sphere adorned with African motifs, representing the ultimate achievement—victory.

The blend of silver and gold not only celebrates champions but also honors the journey of their challengers, embodying the values of ambition, respect, and sportsmanship that define African football.

More than just a design update, the new trophy is a symbol of CAF’s broader rebranding initiative aimed at modernizing its competitions and enhancing the global profile of African football.
