A California man with multiple previous arrests for sniffing women in public was detained again this week for similar behavior.
Calese Carron Crowder, 38, was arrested Tuesday by Burbank Police at the Walmart in the Empire Center shopping complex on Victory Place.
Officers initially responded to a report of a suspicious man loitering in the women’s department of a nearby Nordstrom Rack. Though the suspect had left by the time police arrived, they later located him at the Walmart across the parking lot.
Using the store’s security cameras, police tracked Crowder as he moved through various departments and then followed a female customer into the women’s section. Officers observed him crouching behind the woman and engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks.
Crowder, a Glendale resident and registered sex offender on active parole, was detained on the spot.
He has a documented history of similar offenses and made national headlines in August 2023 after being caught on video committing the same act at a Barnes & Noble in Burbank. That month, he was also arrested for allegedly peeping into a family’s home in Glendale but was later released due to jail overcrowding and failed to register with local authorities, leading to re-arrest.
Candice Horry, wife of former Los Angeles Lakers player Robert Horry, accused Crowder of stalking their teenage daughter over a decade ago, writing on social media that he “needs to be put away for good.”
Crowder’s extensive criminal record includes convictions for burglary, robbery, and indecent exposure, as well as suspicion in other prowling cases in Glendale.
He is currently in custody awaiting charges of loitering with intent to commit a crime. Bail was set at $100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 1.
