Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe, 61, has opened up about the lifestyle changes behind his impressive 57-pound weight loss. Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the veteran star attributed his transformation to two key shifts: cutting back on casual alcohol consumption and working with a modern health platform to address inflammation and pain.

Crowe explained that one of the biggest factors in his success was redefining his relationship with alcohol. While he still views drinking as part of his “cultural heritage” and something he’s “g–damn right” to enjoy, he acknowledged the need to adjust with age.

“We normalize both drinking and wagering, but we never look at the damage they cause,” Crowe told Rogan, noting that he now avoids casual drinking. “If I decide to have a glass of wine with dinner, it’s going to be a really nice wine. One night of fun is plenty for me these days.”

The Gladiator star, who was spotted looking noticeably slimmer at the Giorgio Armani fashion show in Milan on June 17, 2024, also credited his partnership with Ways2Well, a health services platform focused on advanced, preventive care. Introduced to the program by Rogan, Crowe has been receiving personalized IV and injection treatments designed to reduce inflammation and ease chronic pain.

“Ways2Well was a great call for me because it’s calmed down a bunch of stuff,” he said. “It’s taken away a lot of pain, so I can work out without suffering for hours afterward. It’s really reduced my body’s inflammation.”

Crowe, who recently attended the “Nuremberg” premiere in Hollywood on October 24, 2025, emphasized that being able to exercise comfortably was key to sustaining his health goals.
