The campaign council of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed claims that the governor has a political agreement with President Bola Tinubu.
The clarification came in a statement issued on X by the council’s spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, in response to comments made by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, following Adeleke’s re-election.
Keyamo had congratulated Adeleke on his victory in the August 15 governorship election, adding the remark, “Agreement is agreement,” which sparked speculation that the governor and the President may have entered into a political pact.
However, Adeleke’s campaign council rejected the suggestion, insisting that the governor’s support for Tinubu is based on the President’s performance and economic reforms, which it said have strengthened the financial capacity of states.
The council also warned against attempts to diminish the significance of the electorate’s decision in the election.
“Do not undermine the resilience of Osun people. There is no agreement,” the statement read.
It added that Adeleke’s support for Tinubu was “based on his performance and reforms that have strengthened states economically.”
