President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently hosted Nigeria’s pride and Guinness World Record holder, Tunde Onakoya, at his residence — an event that has captured widespread attention online.

Tunde, who gained international acclaim for playing chess non-stop for 60 hours in Times Square, New York, was warmly received by the president. Smiling broadly, Tinubu posed with Tunde while proudly holding the custom Guinness World Record plaque and chess set presented to him.

Sharing the moment on his official Instagram page, President Tinubu wrote:

“I received Tunde Onakoya, founder of Chess in Slums Africa, at my residence today where he also presented his World Record for the longest Chess Marathon.
Tunde’s journey, from the streets of Lagos to uplifting underserved children and breaking world records, reflects the resilience and brilliance of Nigeria’s youth.”

The president went further to praise Tunde’s impactful work through Chess in Slums Africa, calling it a movement that not only opens minds but transforms entire communities.

“Through chess, he opens minds and transforms lives in communities that are too often overlooked.
I would love to see how his work can be replicated nationwide, and I look forward to welcoming him in Abuja to explore how the government can support him.”

Highlighting the alignment with his administration’s goals, Tinubu added:

“Tunde Onakoya’s vision aligns with our administration’s: no child left behind, no talent wasted.
Nigeria is proud of him, and we will walk with him.
