The Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight students for their alleged involvement in cult activities within the Ifo area of the state.
Confirming the arrests, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, explained that the action followed a report from the school administration about the emergence of a student cult group.
She stated, “On March 21, 2025, at approximately 12:05 PM, the Vice Principal of Ifo High School, Mr. Alako Oluwole, along with a teacher, Mr. Akinseku Oloruntoba Julius, informed us that a group of students had been engaging in cult-related activities, causing disturbances and extorting valuables from other students.”
The arrested students have been identified as Omolaso Waris (16), Bennett Bolawatife (15), Aluko Taiwo (15), Akinola Ifeoluwa (16), Azeez Hassan (16), Kilani Babatunde (aka Soldier) (16), Kehinde Aluko (15), and Fasedemi Samuel (16).
Preliminary investigations revealed that the students are members of the Future Guys (F.T.G.) cult group, allegedly initiated by two senior students, Ebenezer Ope (the group’s President) and Ebenezer Tobi, both in SSS 1.
“The police have launched a comprehensive investigation to assess the full scope of cult activities within the school and to prevent further incidents. Once the preliminary investigation is completed, the students will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department,” Odutola said.
She also added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, has instructed that the students be brought before him on the next working day for further interviews, and arrangements for counselling and mentoring will be made.
CP Ogunlowo reaffirmed his commitment to upholding law and order in Ogun State, urging parents, teachers, and community leaders to work together to eliminate cultism from schools.
