As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed that Abuja stands out as one of the safest cities to live in across the country.
He attributed this success to strong collaboration between the government and residents, as well as the shared commitment to peace and stability. Despite ongoing security challenges in some parts of Nigeria, Wike noted that the FCT continues to serve as a model of national unity and safety.
“Residents have deliberately chosen to live in peace and harmony, despite occasional challenges. As a result, the FCT has emerged as one of the most peaceful places to live in Nigeria,” the minister stated.
Wike praised the vigilance and cooperation of Abuja residents, urging continued support through the reporting of suspicious activity and alignment with the administration’s efforts to maintain law and order.
He emphasized that Abuja’s strong security record demonstrates what is possible when citizens and government work hand in hand. “As we celebrate 65 years of independence, we must look to the future with renewed hope. The FCT will remain a symbol of our unity, our resilience, and undoubtedly, one of the safest places to call home in Nigeria,” Wike concluded.
