Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has predicted the return of Rabiu Kwankwaso—2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)—to the ruling party.

Speaking during a meeting with members of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, April 15, Ganduje dismissed the NNPP as a dwindling force in Nigerian politics, declaring the party “dead” and no longer a threat to the APC.

“The NNPP is dead. And it will soon be buried—very, very soon,” Ganduje said. “The coffin has already been constructed. What remains now is to dig the grave, and that process is underway.”

Ganduje, a two-term former governor of Kano State, also brushed off recent coalition efforts among opposition parties, expressing confidence that they would not succeed in unseating President Bola Tinubu. He added that Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s national leader, would be welcomed back into the APC if he chose to return.

“If he says, after losing everyone, that he wants to come back, we will welcome him—because he’s coming back home,” Ganduje said.

He urged APC support groups to stay loyal and continue mobilizing support for the Tinubu administration, promising their efforts would be recognized in the party’s future engagements.

In preparation for the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State, Ganduje also inaugurated a six-member reconciliation committee to address issues across the state’s three senatorial districts.

Earlier, on Friday, April 11, during a visit by the APC National Working Committee to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna, Ganduje reiterated that the proposed opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 elections would fail.
