Tennis icon Novak Djokovic has officially joined the ownership group of Le Mans FC, a French football club recently promoted to Ligue 2.

The club made the announcement on Friday, revealing that Djokovic is part of a wider group of international investors led by the Brazilian-backed consortium OutField. The investment group also includes former Formula 1 drivers Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen, signaling a unique fusion of elite sports backgrounds.

OutField, co-founded by Pedro Oliveira, is at the forefront of this strategic move. Other key figures involved include Georgios Frangulis, CEO of the global health-food brand OakBerry, further highlighting the cross-industry appeal of the project.

In its statement, Le Mans FC hailed Djokovic as “the most successful player in history,” emphasizing that his mental fortitude, relentless competitiveness, and pursuit of excellence would bring “considerable added value” to the club’s culture and long-term vision.

The club also underscored the value of Massa and Magnussen’s involvement, noting their combined 25 seasons in Formula 1. Their presence, Le Mans said, helps reinforce the club’s unique position at the intersection of football and motorsport—a cornerstone of its evolving identity.

This move marks Djokovic’s latest venture off the tennis court, expanding his growing portfolio in the sports and business worlds.

Le Mans FC will begin its Ligue 2 campaign on August 9 with an away match against Guingamp, as the club looks to rebuild after a challenging history in French football.
