Trump Claims Biden Administration Linked Him to Epstein Files as Retaliation

During a press briefing in Scotland alongside British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, former U.S. President Donald Trump alleged that the Biden administration may have deliberately inserted his name into criminal case files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

Calling the renewed attention around Epstein’s case “a hoax that’s been blown way out of proportion,” Trump accused President Biden and senior officials of manipulating the infamous files for political purposes.

“Those files were run by the worst scum on Earth — Comey, Garland, Biden, and all the people who actually ran the government, including the auto pen,” Trump said Monday. “They had control of those files for four years. If they had anything real, you can be sure they would’ve released it.”

Trump’s comments came a week after a Wall Street Journal report revealed that officials had informed him his name appeared in Epstein-related documents. Trump has repeatedly denied any improper connection to Epstein, despite having known him socially decades ago.

The controversy intensified following a July memo from the Department of Justice stating that Epstein had no “client list” and that no further information would be made public. The DOJ’s decision, following months of suggestions from Attorney General Pam Bondi that more disclosures were under review, drew backlash from both Republicans and Democrats who are demanding transparency.

Trump further claimed on Monday that it would have been easy for political opponents to plant false information in the case files, comparing the situation to the unverified and widely criticized Steele dossier compiled during the 2016 election.

“Christopher Steele wrote a book — a dossier — and the whole thing turned out to be fake. They could easily do the same with the Epstein files,” Trump said. “Those files were controlled by bad, sick people. You can’t trust what’s in them unless they show real, verifiable evidence.”

Trump’s remarks are the latest in a series of accusations suggesting the Biden administration is weaponizing federal institutions to undermine his 2024 presidential campaign.
