Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has imposed an immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama Local Government Area, including Bama town and the border community of Banki, as part of intensified efforts to combat the resurgence of Boko Haram in the region.

The decision, made in consultation with security agencies, is aimed at cutting off supplies that could aid insurgent activities in the northeastern part of the state, which shares borders with Chad and Cameroon.

“I have directed the immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama town, Banki, and other parts of Bama Local Government Area,” Zulum announced in a statement released Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya. The statement described the move as a necessary security measure in support of ongoing military operations.

Zulum issued a strong warning to anyone considering defying the order, stating, “There will be no sacred cows in enforcing this ban. Security agencies have clear instructions to act decisively against any filling station or individual who violates this directive. Offenders will face full legal consequences.”

Reaffirming his commitment to restoring peace and security, the governor urged residents to cooperate with the authorities and support government efforts.

Zulum has long maintained a tough stance against insurgent groups, frequently backing military operations and taking direct action to stabilize the most affected communities in Borno State.
