Ademola Lookman has returned to Bergamo and resumed training with his Atalanta teammates following several days of absence.
The Nigerian winger had previously skipped training without permission in an attempt to force a move to Inter Milan. During his absence, Lookman released a statement accusing Atalanta of breaking promises and treating him unfairly both as “a human being and a professional footballer.”
However, Inter Milan has since withdrawn from the race to sign Lookman this summer, failing to reach an agreement with Atalanta.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi later clarified that while there was an understanding permitting Lookman to leave under certain conditions, this only applied to offers from “big clubs” outside Serie A—effectively ruling out Inter Milan and complicating the transfer negotiations.
According to Sky Sport, Lookman arrived at training on Tuesday accompanied by his father and a friend. The 27-year-old now faces possible disciplinary measures from the club.
Atalanta is set to begin their Serie A campaign on Sunday evening with a home match against newly promoted Pisa.
