The Lagos State Police Command has announced that it will carry out a simulation exercise involving Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) at Eko Atlantic City on Thursday, August 28.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, explained that the drill is a routine security exercise aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness and response capabilities. He emphasized that the operation poses no threat and should not cause panic among residents, workers, or visitors in the area.
The exercise will be conducted by the Nigeria Police Force’s Explosives Ordnance Disposal – Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit. According to Hundeyin, the simulation will include controlled detonations carried out by specialized teams trained in managing explosive threats.
“While the sound of blasts may be heard during the drill, there will be no danger, shrapnel, or risk to the public,” he stated. “People in and around the area are advised to remain calm and go about their normal activities.”
Hundeyin also assured that comprehensive safety measures have been put in place. He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has called for public cooperation and understanding, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to the safety and security of all residents.
